A Signature hotel

Every metre, every corner, every tree, every decorative element..., everything in Cap Menorca has first been conceived in Laurent Morel-Ruymen's mind. Fondateur du Mare e Terra Group, this is his most personal project: converting a former military base into a luxury place of relaxation with minimal intervention and letting nature be the real protagonist.

Relais & Chateaux

A landscape shaped by time

Long before it became a place of hospitality, Cap Menorca belonged to the landscape.

Stretching across thirty hectares of protected Mediterranean coastline and overlooking one km of untouched sea, the peninsula has been shaped for centuries by wind, stone and light. Pine forests, ancient olive trees and native vegetation have long defined its identity, while its elevated position has made it one of Menorca's most remarkable natural landmarks.

This secluded headland was once home to the former military base of Llucalari, a discreet presence that remained deeply connected to the character of the island. Following its military chapter, the site briefly became home to an ¨okupa¨ community, adding another unexpected layer to its history before eventually being abandoned.

For two decades, nature quietly reclaimed the peninsula. Buildings weathered under the Mediterranean sun, paths disappeared beneath native vegetation, and silence once again became the defining presence of the landscape.

Today, Cap Menorca continues to reflect that same balance between history and nature, where architecture never competes with the landscape but quietly becomes part of it.

Un renacer paciente

A careful rebirth

The transformation of Cap Menorca was never conceived as a conventional development.

From the very beginning, the ambition was not to create a resort, but to reveal the extraordinary qualities that already existed.

Over the course of a decade, architects, craftsmen, landscape specialists and local artisans worked patiently to restore the peninsula with profound respect for its history and environment. Every intervention was guided by restraint. Existing buildings were carefully preserved, traditional construction techniques were favored wherever possible, and every decision sought to minimize the human footprint while allowing the landscape to remain the principal architect.

Luxury here is not measured by what has been added, but by what has been carefully protected.

Only after ten years of restoration did the peninsula open once again, offering guests the rare privilege of experiencing one of the Mediterranean's most secluded and authentic destinations.

Una arquitectura enraizada en Menorca

Architecture rooted in Menorca

Cap Menorca has been conceived as a contemporary interpretation of Menorca's architectural heritage.

Fifteen private suites are discreetly integrated into the landscape, each opening onto its own private garden and swimming pool while preserving complete privacy. Rather than dominating the peninsula, the architecture follows its natural contours, allowing every building to sit gently within its surroundings.

Natural materials—including hand-finished terracotta, white marble, painted timber, teak and natural leather—have been selected for their authenticity, longevity and timeless beauty. Every space has been designed to age gracefully, celebrating craftsmanship, texture and natural light above decoration.

Throughout the estate, architecture becomes a quiet dialogue between tradition and contemporary comfort, offering an experience that feels deeply connected to the island itself.

Un patrimonio mediterráneo vivo

A living mediterranean heritage

Cap Menorca is more than a destination; it is an expression of the island's cultural identity.

Art, craftsmanship and landscape coexist naturally throughout the peninsula. Contemporary works dialogue with centuries-old architecture, while carefully curated photography preserves the memory of the site before its restoration. Local craftsmanship is present in every detail, from traditional materials to handcrafted finishes that celebrate Menorca's enduring creative traditions.

The experience extends beyond the estate itself. The surrounding coastline, the rhythm of the Mediterranean, the island's gastronomy and its remarkable natural heritage all become part of everyday life.

Cap Menorca was never intended to transform the peninsula.

Its purpose has always been to allow guests to experience one of the Mediterranean's most extraordinary landscapes with the same sense of authenticity, tranquility and timeless beauty that has defined this place for generations after the transformations made by the army and the destruction and abandon provoked by the Okupas, the place is now a beautiful example of rehabilitation of the landscape respecting it´ s environmental values.
